THE ULTIMATE IN EXTREME CONTEST PROMOTIONS
ANNOUNCING: THE ULTIMATE IN EXTREME CONTEST PROMOTIONS
Internet company, Mindfield Media, is offering a lifetime supply of web
hosting to anyone who gets a tattoo of one of their company mascots.
Media outlets looking for quirky angles within the technology sector will
want to look at this interesting piece.
ABOUT MINDFIELD MEDIA:
Mindfield Media is an incorporated business located in Dallastown, Pennsylvania. The innovative company has offered affordable web hosting and design services to customers in the central Pennsylvania area since 1998.
"The tricky part has always been: How do you market an abstract service like web hosting?", comments company CEO, Walt Miller.
"We've always found it incredibly funny that on every web hosting company's web site you'll see a picture of a server.", continues graphic artist Brian Magar. "Every company looks the same. We thought we'd inject a little marketing fun into our web services; so far, we haven't seen anyone take it to the same level."
CHICKENS, ROBOTS AND RABBITS... OH, MY?
Magar designed the look of three Mindfield Media mascots -- a baby chicken (Hosty The Hosting Peep), a limbless robot (D.N.S. The Serverbot) and a rabbit (Url The Rabbit) -- three simply-drawn characters that are fast gaining cult status with Mindfield Media's target market: artists, media, musicians and record labels.
"What does a baby chick have to do with web hosting? Absolutely nothing, but that's kind of the beauty of it.", says Miller. "We've had a great response. People send in pictures of our promotional stickers in use all the time. Recently, a jewerly maker client sent us each character rendered in beads. There's a nice word of mouth thing happening with this."
A CONTEST IS BORN
"When Douglas Alves Junior of 2+2=5 Records (www.2and2equal5.com) told us his girlfriend wanted to get tattoo's of Hosty and Url on her legs, we knew we were onto something.", Magar relates.
Mindfield Media immediately offered the label a lifetime of web hosting in return for proof of the tattoo. The Ultimate In Extreme Contest Promotions was born.
"The pictures they sent us were very authentic.", says Miller. "We were like, 'Yep, she did it. There's Hosty on her leg."
Magar adds, "As a designer, that's probably as much validation as you can ask for."
Mindfield Media now offers a lifetime of web hosting to anyone who takes the same plunge. For contest details, interested parties should check out the website, www.mindfieldmedia.com.
